You can barely leave your house in London these days without tripping over a bunch of "real soulful house" nights but few are the genuine article, and none playing it quite like this.
Add a sack full of music that you just won't hear anywhere else, and some super special guest peformances, and you've got what is set to be one of the hottest and most essential parties of the Summer.
Bopstar, the newest resident and recording artist for the Soul Heaven club and label, having already worked with the likes of Bugz In The Attic, Jazzanova, Marc Mac (4Hero), and Simbad, had a massive worldwide house hit on his hands at the start of the year with the track 'Captured', and has been knocking out club favourite remixes left, right, and centre, and smashing it on some of the planets more discerning dancefloors. The new single 'Desire' is about to be released on Soul Heaven, and there's a string of new remixes in the works for the likes of Zed Bias, plus his work on the forthcoming restless soul album.
In recent years Jose Carretas has been spinning at spots like "Space" at the Cross and Pacha, Soul Heaven and Mn2s, and remixing and producing tracks for folks like Quentin Harris. His Mn2s single 'Just Can't Make It' featuring Vanessa Freeman kicked off a stream of soulful house gems thats continued right up to his latest hit, 'Takin a Piece Of Me' on Tribe records.
Oh and when he's not making or spinning deep, soulful house music, he's touring the world as resident D.J.for Damon Albarns Gorillaz sound system, performing to crowds of up to 35.000 at Creamfields , Global gathering, Cannes film festival and the MTV awards.
The pair epitomize that restless soul vibe that Phil Asher made so well known - eschewing more fashionable options and sticking to their soulful guns with an integrity and a passion for the sound.
Expect DJ appearances and plenty of live action in the coming months from restless soul friends and family worldwide, and a distinct female bias on the live front, with murmurings that the likes of Tamara Wellons, Sacha Williamson, Diviniti, and Vanessa Freeman are all appearances in the works. Exactly who, and when, is yet to be announced. First up for launch night on July 23rd, in conjunction with the record release for 'Desire', is Zara McFarlane live on stage, whom a lot of people will be itching to hear perform the rather crazy and quite wonderful previous single, 'Captured'!
Following that, the boys remain tight-lipped about their August guest, all they're willing to say is, it's going to be "out of this world'...
